- When emailing someone, ask a question that requires more than a yes/no answer. This will help start a conversation. Example: "You volunteer for a literacy non-profit? That’s great, how did you get into that?"
- Include the person’s name in your greeting and your own name in the closing.
- It’s nice to reply to everyone who contacts you, even if you aren’t interested.
- If you don’t have anything new to say, email someone a rave about something you’ve just talked about—to let them know
you’re thinking about them and still interested.
